PhD in Political Science at the New School\/New York University and postdoctoral at the University of Oxford. He was a visiting professor at Universit\u00e9 Paris 1 Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne (2022-2023); Edward Laroque Tinker Visiting Professor at Stanford University (2017); Visiting Scholar at the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin (2016-2017); Visiting Fellow in Foreign Policy and Global Economics at the Brookings Institution (2010-2011); and Resident Fellow at the Bellagio Center of the Rockefeller Foundation, Italy (2008). He was also Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University (2005-2011) and Professor at the S\u00e3o Paulo School of Economics at Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Get\u00falio Vargas (FGV EESP). He worked as a visiting professor in the economics department at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) and at Colby College-Maine, USA. He has extensively published in several academic refereed journals such as Journal of Politics, Comparative Political Studies, Government and Opposition, Governance, Regulation &amp; Governance, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Journal of Democracy, Latin American Politics and Society, among others.
